I'm not sure we're talking about the same thing. Ownership of the file is not really that important right now to me. What I'm more concerned with is file permission.

Let's say there's the root folder of the updater application. User1 will use the application which needs to update File1 and File2 , which must be situated in the root/UpdatedFiles folder. The application will then create files in the temp directory of User1. Once the files have finished downloading, the application will ask the service to put the files inside the root/UpdatedFiles folder. Since that directory does not exist yet, it must be created. The application will create the directory named root/UpdatedFiles , and will cut/paste File1 and File2 inside it. If I look at either File1 or File2 directory, the permission will reflect the ones inside the temp directory of the user that updated the files(in this case, User1). If I look at the permission for the folder UpdatedFiles , everything is perfect.

I could always set the permission manually with the new updated version, but that wouldn't take into account inheritance.

By the way, a big thank you for the enormous support you have showed me. It is really appreciated, and speaks for the passion you take into your product.
