Connection available (General questions)
by Raffaele, Monday, July 28, 2008, 09:27 (5962 days ago)
I have a the same client Jabber (with the same wodXMPP dll) in two different PC on the same LAN.
When i unplug the ethernet cable, the first client goes offline in 5-10 seconds and the other remain online. Is there a parameter to control this setting?
Bye

Hi Raffaele,
This is only possible if client (wodXMPP) is on same machine as Jabber server. In other cases client should be disconnected from server if network card is unplugged.
Can you please check if you maybe have two network connection (network card) connected on that machine? Some machines have lan and wireless network card and maybe one still stays connected and hold connection.
Did you try maybe using our samples? Please also make sure that you are using latest 1.2.3.97 version of wodXMPP. wodXMPP Version Property hold version number.
Let us know how it goes.
Regards,
Drazen

This is not my case, the server i use is GTalk.

In one PC i have also a Wireless Card but is disabled. In both PCs all other program goes offline.

I tested your demo and it goes offline after a PING without response. I can resolve my problem by setting a lower value to TimeOut property.
But the question is: why the same client (with the same timeout property value) runs in different ways on different PC?
The first pc (that goes offline in 5-10 seconds) is WinXP SP3, the second pc that never goes offline id WinVista Business.

Raffaele,
I have just finished testing on my Windows Vista and I didn't notice problem you have. After about 10 seconds wodXMPP disconnect from server and display disconnected state.
I'm using also Google talk account.
Can you please update to latest version and try it again?

I upgraded to v1.2.3.97 but the problem still here.
The first PC with WinXpSp3 goes offline in 5-10 seconds and the second with WinVista Business remain online.
Interval property can't help me because i must use value like 10 or 20 that generates too much traffic.
Bye
